Nice little Stocking Stuffer

Aren't these cute? These are lip gloss holders. I had a bunch that were made in non-Christmas papers too but I sold all of those. These are so easy. I found the instructions while blog surfing and I'm sorry to say I don't remember where. I jotted down the dimensions on a slip of paper but not the web address. Sorry! I usually try hard to give people credit when I CASE something. Anyway, these are made from a piece of Real Red cardstock, some DSP from a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit (same one the Santa's Magic Key) was made from. Wrapped a little piece of taffeta ribbon and stamped a little sentiment and all done. Easy little gift to put in a girl's stocking.

A little nostalgia

This is a layout of my Mom and Dad. I wanted to create something to document their engagement. I’ll use the Details area for journaling the who/what/when/where. I love this layout. I think it is very elegant. I started with a Very Vanilla background and sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink. I used the Swirly die (retired from SU! catalog) for the borders. The flowers are made from punches. The small ones are from the Boho Blossoms punch. The larger ones are made from the layering several of the small Scallop Circle punch out of Baha Breeze or the Newsprint specialty Designer Series Paper. Also used for embellishments is the Top Note die and the Elegant Lines embossing folder, the lattice die, and the Photo Corner punch (retired). I used Basic Pearls in the centers of the flowers.

Santa's Magic Key

Did/does your little one ever ask you how Santa gets in to deliver the presents when you don't have a chimney? If so, this is the perfect project for you. I've seen different takes on the magic key but this version I came across here. I just knew I had to put a few of these together. I used a retired Simply Scrapping kit and whipped out four of them in no time and still had tons of stuff left over.

SPRING

I'm going through some photos of projects that I've done in the past year and just now getting around to posting. Isn't that sad? I always start out with the best of intentions and then life just gets in the way, you know? Anyway, on to the project. This is a layout that we did for last April's club meeting. I started out with a Daffodil Delight as the background and used Peach Parfait and Concord Crush as the accents. And isn't the Tangerine Tango pompom trim cute? Adds just the right touch. I love that stuff. The banner is just created by using a strip of the DSP for the background and then I cut strips of another DSP wide enough to stamp the letters on. I used the photo corner punch to give the letters the 'banner' look.

A little bit of Christmas...

I've been creating a few Christmas projects and thought I would share them. Here are few ornaments that I made using either Stampin' Up! reinkers and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I embellished some of them with rub-ons from my retired stash and some ribbon. I love how they sparkle! I sold most of these but I'm going to make some more to hang on my own tree and to give to my grandbabies. I have a tradition of giving them an ornament every year. That way when they grow up and move out they will have their own ornaments and a keepsake from Nana.

12x12 Summer Layout

I can't believe that summer is pretty much over. But I have to tell you, I am so happy to see the cooler weather that we have had the past couple of days! This is a layout that I did for a convention swap. I started with Early Espresso background. For the banner I used a strip of Tempting Turquoise cardstock and distressed the edges with the Cutter Kit then I layered on a strip of the Just Add Cake DSP. I used the Petite Pennants punch and punched out Whisper White triangles and Peach Parfait scalloped triangles. Sponged and stamped the white with Tempting Turquoise and layered onto the Peach Parfait. Strung them together with the Early Espresso bakers twine. The photo mats are Pear Pizzaz and again distressed on the edges. Wrapped with the white bakers twine. I made the flowers with the smallest flower from the Island Floral die and layered it onto one of the flowers from the Fun Flowers die. Did you know that one of the flowers from the Cottage Garden stamp set fits perfectly into the smallest flower on the Island Floral die? I'm so glad I figured that out. Makes that die cut so cute with very little effort. And if you are using the clear mount stamps you don't even have to break out your Stamp-a-ma-jig! The middle of the flower is a simple silver brad. Really cute embellishments that are quick and easy.

Daisies With a Twist

I just love this page. It is so bright and colorful. I created this for one of my swaps for convention. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. I started with a Daffodil Delight background. The photo mat is Pear Pizzaz with a punched border of Tempting Turquoise. The Lattice Die makes a great background for my favorite flowers. I made these from the Daisy#2 die. Aren't they cute?! And they are so easy! Just take a skewer or your paper piercer tool (I call it the pokey tool) and place it on the tip of the daisy petal, hold it on there and just give it a twist. Be gentle so you don't tear the paper. I do this to all three layers and then glue it together. On these I used the Boho Blossom punch for the center. Just love em! I'll show you another project later that I did with them. Enjoy!

Easy Events Cupcake 8x8 Double Layout

This is an 8x8 double layout that I did for a swap. Aren’t the cupcakes just too cute?! I inked the cupcake stamp from the Easy Events set with a Concord Crush marker and let it dry. Then I colored the bottom with Melon Mambo, the icing with Wisteria Wonder, and water colored underneath with a little of the Wisteria Wonder. After the ink was dry I painted the tops with a little bit of the Shimmer Paint to make it shine. You can’t tell but the lines under the cupcake are to cover up my over-inking the stamp, had to hide the shadow lines somehow and that worked perfectly. Sorry about the wonkiness of the picture. I have to figure out a better way of photographing my layouts!

It's good to dream - SU2 Color Challenge

I'm guessing that you can tell how much fun I am having with My Digital Studio? Stampin' Up! just keeps on releasing all of these wonderful downloads. I finally caved and bought the Vintage Overlays which is the outer frame for this layout. Also had to get the awesome Antique Brads. They are just as awesome for digital scrappin' as they are for the traditional paper scrappin'. The swirls came from the Baroque Motif stamps, most of them are hidden behind the photo mat. My craft room probably thinks I have abandoned it for my computer. I sit down and start one of these layouts and before I know it time has just flown by.

This layout I did for a the SU2 Color Challenge on Soul Scrappers. The challenge was to use Kraft, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette, and Ridinghood Red. I wasn't sure how to get the red in there but I think it works using it for the title, just a little pop of color. This was actually a color photo but Audrie is wrapped in a Chocolate Chip colored blanket and that didn't work with my design for the challenge so I just changed the photo to B&W. Now it works perfectly with the layout, don't you think?

Sweet Sister

We created this layout at one of my club meetings. These are photos of my sister when she was 2, I think. Isn't she just too cute?! I love the Newsprint and the Love Letter Designer Series Papers and they work well together the way I've used them here. This layout started with a Riding Hood Red base and is embellished with strips of DSP that have been sponged lightly with Basic Black ink. There are also the beautiful medallions created using the Scallop Circle punch and also flowers from the Island Floral Big Shot die. The DSP has a border punched from the Scallop Edge Border punch in Very Vanilla. I've added a place to journal with one of the stamps from the Notably Ornate set. I just love the way this layout turned out, perfect for black and white photos.

MDS Saturday Scrapbook Challenge - ScrapSketch11

Another My Digital Studio creation. There is a Saturday Scrapbook challenge on http://mydigitalstudio.net/ that I found and I just love the sketches that Alesha Walls provides there. She does a wonderful job. This one was supposed to be for Christmas but I took a few liberties with it and created something a little different. This past summer when I had all of my grandkids around at the same time we had a little photo shoot. The older kids weren't into it much but the little ones love to ham it up for the camera. I'm working on doing an entire album that I'll post when I get it done but here is an 8x8 that I did with the week 11 sketch.
I started with a background of Real Red. The circles are Night of Navy DSPs with a white mat. The long white swirly stamps are from the Torn Edges set. I added a few star brads from the Hodgepodge Hardware embellishments. The flower is from the Simple Friendship set. Love the way that you can '2 step stamp' with these. It is much easier in MDS than with 'real' stamps for me! Just leave me a comment with any questions you might have.

Isn't this little one just adorable!? This is my granddaughter, Audrie.Okay, I think I can officially call it an obsession. Every time I look at a scrapbook layout I wonder if I can reproduce it in My Digital Studio. Do you think that qualifies? I was blog surfing last night and came across a page on the Pretty Paper Blog that caught my eye. Had to try to CASE it and reproduce it in MDS right then, couldn't even wait. For this layout I started with a background of Pretty in Pink which I reduced the opacity on to make it lighter. Layered in strips of Designer Series paper (all in Pretty in Pink) with the 1.25' square punch and embellished away. The flower is created with 3 of the Five petal flower punches and a circle punch. All of them have a white mat added to them. Look at me, I can't even get away from my punch addiction when I'm scrapping digitally! Don't you just love the Chocolate Chip zigzag stitch!? I've been telling myself I'm going to try this on my paper layouts but haven't gotten to it yet. The photo mat and label are colored with Close to Cocoa.

MDS Valentine Card

This is a card I created in My Digital Studio for another one of the Creative Crew Challenges on SplitCoastStampers. This challenge was all about Valentine's and hearts. Do you think I added enough hearts? I thought the landscape was a little bare without the little hearts scattered about. Might need to come up with a couple of more sayings for them though. I'm really in trouble here with using MDS for these projects. My wish list is growing out of control with a ton of downloads!

I started this with a Riding Hood Red background, added the Riding Hood Red striped DSP with a Basic Black mat. The hearts are all Rose Red (I think) with a Riding Hood Red mat. The sentiment is from the Always stamp set. I took a little creative license with the sentiment. This entire saying is on one of the stamps but it didn't have the font that I wanted and it didn't fit the heart the way I wanted it to. So I stamped the 'Everything' with one of the stamps that was included in the set and added the 'You mean....to me' with 2 different text boxes so I could get them positioned just right and the emphasis would be on the 'Everything'. That is what is so awesome about using MDS. You can play with everything a bit to get just what you want without wasting supplies. Another awesome thing is that if you already own another editing program you can probably still use all of the wonderful downloads that SU! has available.

What I love about you

Happy New Year everyone! I'm setting goals for myself this year, not making resolutions. Is there really any difference though? One of my goals for this year is to be more consistent with my posting. I'm going to try to do at least one a week. We'll see how that goes.

Like my new blog design? I did it with My Digital Studio (MDS). I think I'm finally getting the hang of using it. Another of my goals for this year is to do at least one digital layout a week, single or double page layout. Using MDS is going to make it really easy. This layout is one I did for one of the CreativeCrew challenges over on SplitCoast. It came together very easily. The challenge is to scrapbook something/someone you love and tell why. How could you look at this face and not love it? She just smiles with her whole face.

I started out with a background of Blushing Bride wallpaper, added Chocolate chip zigzag stitching, and an enlarged punch heart in Regal Rose. The photo is matted with Chocolate Chip, lettering is in Cherry Cobbler with a Chocolate Chip shadow and it is finished off with the Rose Red buttons. Lots of different colors in there but I think they work well together.

Halloween Banner

This is a banner that I created last weekend. It is the perfect size to hang on the overhead cubby in my office at work. Something to decorate my drab little corner of the work world. The triangles are chipboard covered with SU! Wicked Fun specialty paper. The chipboard letters are also covered with paper from that pack. The background for the ghosts are Rich Razzleberry. Don't you just love the spider? I knew I had to use the Spider Web embossing folder. I think it is my favorite item out of the SU! holiday mini. Isn't that grey gauzy material great? I got that from the Halloween decoration section of the Dollar Tree. I really should wait to take a picture of this and post it tomorrow so I could have better lighting and place to take it but I wanted to get entered into a contest on Kim Score's Paper Punch Addiction blog. You'll have to go check it out.

Beautiful mistake...

Aren't these flowers just gorgeous?!? They are the result of a little 'mistake' my daughter made the other night at our Scrap Club. One of the embellishments for our club project on Friday night was supposed to be the beautiful accordion fold flower that you see everywhere right now. (Wonderful tutorial HERE.) The one we were making is from the Extra Large Scallop Circle punch in the new SU! catalog. You punch two of the scallop circles, score all of the way across the circle between each of the scallops, in the valley. Karen wasn't listening and when she scored hers, she scored in the middle of each scallop instead. She was aggravated that she had 'messed up' and wanted to throw them away! I told her to go ahead and finish it to see what it would look like and this is the beautiful result. The Very Vanilla and Basic Black flower at the top of the photo are like her 'mistake', the one on the right follows the tutorial that I made them from. Isn't her 'mistake' just gorgeous?! And those Antique Brads just set them off perfectly. The little flower in the middle is from the Island Floral Big Shot die.

Scallop Square Mini

We made this cute little mini at our June Club meeting. Very easy, all pages made with the Bigz Scallop Square. There are 6 pages, double layers. The front and back covers were put through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder then highlighted with Close to Cocoa and a sponge. I glued another square to the back so that there would be a smooth surface to stamp on. I liked the weight of the two layers of cardstock so all of the pages are two squares put together. Each of the remaining pages also had the edges inked after gluing them together. The stamped images are from the Elements of Style stamp set, currently my favorite set. The other images are from the Mostly Vintage decor stencil. The combination of these two sets together is awesome! Most of the stencils were done with Chocolate Chip ink but a couple were done with spritzing on the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz, very nice effect. Go easy on the spritz though, a little goes a long way! Putting the two layers together also hid the back of the brads that I used for embellishment on one of the pages that I used the stencil on. The butterfly on the front is from the Beautiful Butterflies die, cut from Dusty Durango. I stamped it with the flower from the Elements of Style set and then spread a thin layer of Crystal Effects over it. I'm going to finish it off by tying ribbon to the ring.

Suitcase mini album

Can you believe I have had this post in draft since May? I totally forgot about it! Anyway, I have to say, I just love how this project turned out. I wanted to make my grandson, Hunter, a mini with pictures from the time he spent with us last summer. We drove to MA to visit them and he came back with us. We stopped at Niagra Falls on the way home, went to the St. Louis Zoo, and he was here over the 4th of July. So we had tons of pictures. I won't show you the entire book but I'll show a few different things I did to make room for extra photos and lots of journaling that I am going to let him do.

This was made from the Briefcase Chipboard album that was in the Occasions mini. I only used two of the chipboard pieces from it. On the outside I used Creamy Caramel (retired) I crumpled the paper up a few times then smoothed it out just a little. I then took a sponge and lightly sponged over the entire piece with Close to Cocoa ink to highlight the wrinkles. Kind of gave it a worn leather look. I then covered the chipboard with the distressed paper for the outside. The inside is just covered with the 'regular' Creamy Caramel cardstock.

For the inside pages I wanted something a little thicker than cardstock but not as thick as the chipboard pieces so I took the cardboard that comes in the designer series paper and cut it to size. I sandwiched that in between two pieces of Creamy Caramel cardstock that I had put through the Big Shot with the texture plates. I inked the edges of this 'sandwich' with Close to Cocoa ink. I punched holes in it and placed eyelets in it to keep the pages from tearing out.

On a few of the pages I needed extra space for adding plenty of pictures so for the photo mat I made it twice as long as I needed it to, scored it down the middle, inked the edges and glued it down to the page. I only glued the edges on 3 sides to create a pocket for a tag. I used photo corner brads (don't know if that is what they are called) to keep the bottom of the page folded up. This allowed me to put 3 photos on this one page and have room for journaling.

I tried to make sure I used this same method of gluing the photo mat down on all of the pages. By only gluing 3 edges I always had somewhere to tuck a tag into for the journaling.

On another page I took a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it to size. I inked the edges of it and with my Cutting tool I perforated a slit in it about 1/2 inch from the edge and opened the slit up. When I glued the paper to the page I only glued down the very edges so that the middle stayed loose. I then made a tag that would fit into the slit, another place to hide the journaling.

I took these pictures before the album was complete and of course forgot to take more before I gave it to him. The closure was leather that I got from the BIA folks. Have to say I won't use it again. After the leather got loosened up from opening and closing a few times it became to soft to easily fit back into the clasp. I was very disappointed since there was no way to remove it without destroying the cover. Oh, well, you live and learn. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

12x12 Color block Layout

We made this for our July club meeting. I just love all of these colors together. I got the idea from page 159 of the new catalog. I wanted a two page layout though so I modified the design just a bit. The base of the pages is Chocolate Chip. It sets the colors off so nicely. I basically just cut my strips of paper as wide as I wanted them and then started cutting them to various lengths until I had a layout that I was happy with, making sure that I staggered the colors across the two pages so that it drew your eye across and balanced out. Notice that there are little patches of the Chocolate Chip peeking out between some of the colors. Most of the papers were run through the Big Shot with either embossing folders or texture plates. I used the Punched Posies level 1 hostess set from the Summer mini for the embellishments. That is such an awesome set. Almost every stamp goes with one of the SU! punches, how wonderful is that?! I also used the new Broadsheet Alphabet set for the title. This is going to be great for titling my scrapbook pages. I love how the pages turned out. Of course it doesn't hurt to have such a cute little subject, does it?

Halloween Treat Tube

This is a cute little treat tube that I found the pattern on Paper Punch Addiction. I did this for a swap with my fellow demos. I love the way it turned out. I was going to enter it in a challenge that Kim had on her blog but didn't get this post up soon enough. Oh, well, maybe next time. This photo isn't the best but I'll try to get another one posted soon so that you can see the detail better. It almost looks like I have a black lite on doesn't it?

I started out by running the black cardstock through the Big Shot with the new Halloween Spider Web embossing folder. Then I took White Craft Ink and a sponge and highlighted the raised lines of the web. Next came the Shimmer Mist spray made from the Shimmer Paint. I love that stuff. A little goes a long way. The top and bottom were made with Pumpkin Pie paper. My wonderful upline and friend, Suzanne, cut me the Rich Razzleberry zig zags out of the new Tasteful Trim die that will be available in the Holiday mini. I was going to use the ric-rack trim but it was much too big for this little box. I just love this die by the way. The trim is long enough to make a border for a 12x12 scrapbook page. Isn't that awesome!?!? I have so many ideas for even the scraps from cutting this die.

Anyway, back to the box. The spider is from Rich Razzleberry too. I was going to make it black but thought it didn't stand out enough from the box that way. The spider is attached to the box with some black string (retired SU! that I don't know the name of) by poking a hole in the lid, putting the string through and using a small black brad to hold it in. The string is attached to the spider by sandwiching it between two pieces of paper.

The spider is made with:
2 1 3/8 circle punches (one for the front, the other is used on the back to sandwich the string)
1 1 1/4 circle punch
2 photo corner punches (cut each on in half following the shape)
Eyes are made with hole punch covered in Crystal Effects.

I will admit though that it took a little time because of all of the steps I did but it wasn't difficult. Hope you all enjoy and check out Kim Score's blog for all of the details on how to create the box.

Gatefold Baby Mini Album

This is an album I did for a friend, Brenda. She didn't know the gender of the baby so I went for the neutral baby colors of yellow and green. The Moments and Milestones Simply Scrapping Kit from Stampin' Up! fit the bill perfectly. I just love the Tempting Turquoise in this, really gives it a pop. I wasn't sure what to use for the closure, couldn't find a button with a shank that I liked for this album. So I modeled the closure something like those envelopes where you weave the string in and around two buttons that are set apart a little. I took two chipboard circles (retired), one about 1/2" and another about an inch I think, glued them together with smallest on the bottom and covered the larger one with paper, inked the edges and glued them to the album cover. Inventive, right?! I used some 1/2" Certainly Celery and 1/4" Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon along the seams on the outside cover, cute way to cover it up. One thing I really have to remember though is to apply the ribbon BEFORE sticking the inside pages down with their binding. Had a hard time trying to get that ribbon over the seam! I used a couple of the SU! Tempting Turquoise buttons on the inside covers. Love how SU! coordinates everything. The pocket pages and all of the tags inside the pockets were all made with Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, and Basic Gray cardstock. I added a punched border to the pockets on the binding with the Basic Gray and the new Scallop Border punch.I didn't do too much embellishing, I wanted to leave that for Brenda as she added the photos and journaling so she could make it girly or boyish. I gave her the remaining stickers that came with the Simply Scrapping. She had a beautiful baby girl a couple days later. If I had been my normal procrastinating self I could have made her a girly album!

Mother's Day Present - mini album

I'm on a mini-album kick. I've found that I just love making them. I always have tons of pictures so the picture part goes together pretty easy. This one I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. Funny thing is she has been watching the progress of it all the way through and doesn't even know it is for her! The style for the pockets inside this mini came from the wonderfully talented Laura at followingthepapertrail.blogspot.com. She has a blog, YouTube videos and UStream classes. She is SO AWESOME!

The entire album is made with Bella Bleu DSP. I love this DSP, it is so pretty! The cover is chipboard covered with some of the DSP and sponged on the edges with Close to Cocoa ink. The flower is from the Pretties Kit colored with a Not Quite
Navy marker with a punch flower in the middle. There are also different size of the
scallop circles from the Big Shot dies under the flower. The F is from some retired SU! chipboard and the rest of 'family' is cut out on Night of Navy cardstock on the Cricut. All of the pages and the cover have holes punched and then an Antique Brass Jumbo Brad was used to reinforce the hole for the binding.

April Club Layout

Cased this one straight from Lyssa over at Song of My Heart Stampers changed it up a little bit but the idea is the same. She has some beautiful work over there on her blog, you should check it out. The background is Pretty in Pink, the flower stems were stamped in Chocolate Chip, the flowers were stamped in Pretty in Pink ink and punched out with the Extra Large Fancy Flower, a circle punch, and the Scallop Circle punch. The photo mats are Chocolate Chip. The little clipboard has the paper punched with the Spiral punch to make it look like notebook paper, cute idea. This is a quick and easy layout that you can whip up in no time.

6x6 Cuties

I was working on some simple layouts for the kid's class that I did and this is one that I came up with that I then couldn't use. I textured the background with the Perfect Polka Dots impressions folder from the Occasions Mini. I centered the paper in the folder and then ran it through the Bigshot. The reason I couldn't use it is because I had already bound the albums for the kids so they wouldn't have a way to run it through the Bigshot. It turned out very cute though. I put a strip of paper above and below the embossing and put a cute little butterfly up in the corner of the photo. Simple and cute.

This one is also simple, just a piece of DSP behind the photo to coordinate the pink in the picture with the page and popped on some more of those cute little butterflies from the Beautiful Wings embosslit and you are done. Helps to have such a cute little subject too! I know you can't see her face, I smudged it, you'll just have to take my word for it. She is adorable. Of course, no bias here, she's only my newest granddaughter. Her daddy calls her teacup because she is so tiny.

Last but not least, here is one of me with more of my little darlings. I stamped the background of this with little butterflies from the Sprinkles background set that I got free from Sale A Bration. Gotta love those freebies. But it gives just a little added something to the page. Added the Melon Mambo paper as a mat for the photo, ran it through the Bigshot with a texture plate first. And as usual, no title yet. I am horrible about that. I always have to go back later and add little bits and pieces to my layouts.

So here they are 3 cute little fast and easy layouts. Great for mini albums which I have fallen in love with lately.

March Club layout

This is a layout created from an idea that I found in the April Stampin' Success, a magazine for demos. This first page is basically what was in the magazine, different colors but same idea. I always have to have a double layout though cause I like to put in as many pictures as possible so I just created the second by turning it 45 degrees and turning the dsp into a pocket to place tags in. Quick and easy but still very nice. I think you could use this layout for anything from weddings to Mother's Day depending on the DSP and colors you use. I chose to make it all about one of my granddaughters. I haven't come up with a title for it yet but it is all about Lanie.

6x6 Valentine Swap #2

This is the 6x6 layout that Karen did for the swap. The card stock is Pink Passion with Chocolate Chip for the photo frames, and the beautiful Sending Love Specialty paper for the border. Stamp sets used were Well Scripted from the Occasional mini and Whimsical Words from Sale A Bration. She used the new scallop corner punch for the square medallion. I got the instructions for this off of a blog while surfing, unfortunately I didn't write it down so I can't give them credit. You just take a 2 inch square of paper and use the punch to punch each corner and you get this perfect piece. She also masked off the edges and sponged the middle portion. Pretty look. Karen popped it up with dimensionals on a square of Real Red to give it a 3d look. The heart is the new embosslit in Real Red and the big heart punch.

January Club layout

I promised one of the ladies that we would do a Christmas layout in January since we didn't have a club meeting in December. This was a super simple layout but used several different supplies. We started with the Santa's line-up jumbo wheel with Real Red ink in the corners. Added our Build a Bear Santa and North Pole sign. This was a super simple embellishment, I got the idea from a swap I was in. I took a small piece of black cardstock and 'drizzled' Crystal Effects at the top. Added the Dazzling Diamonds glitter to it while it was still wet then let it dry. Add the North Pole with the White Signo Gel Pen. The pole is just a scrap of Real Red with a 1/2" circle on top with more of the white gel pen for accent. As you can see we didn't waste any of our paper when it came to the Top Note die-cuts. We used the 'waste' as frames too. It is hard to tell from the photos but the circles that are sprinkled around have been put through the Big Shot with texture plates and spritzed with the Shimmer mist made from the Shimmer Paint.

My Buddy and Me Mini Album Scrapbook Class

12x12 Valentine Swap #2

Here is another layout done for a Valentine swap. More CHOCOLATE!! This swap was fun. I loved using these colors together. The chocolate and pink just pop together. Reminds me of some yummy chocolate covered candy.

You can't see it very well in the photo but the letters on the Scallop Circles are stamped and then embossed.

On the second page, on the right, the Very Vanilla is connected by strips of Real Red put through the crimper and topped with hearts in Pretty in Pink.

Mini Album

This is a quick little mini album I put together for my granddaughter, Addyson. She is two years old and loves to stamp and glue with Nana. She loves flowers and butterflys. I covered two pieces of 4 x 4 chipboard in Pixie Pink and added some embellishments cut and punched from some old paper I had. On the inside I used Pixie Pink, Bashful Blue, Lovely Lilac, and Pumpkin Pie. I added a few pictures of her favorite people inside with intentions of adding more. She found it before I had a chance to finish it and officially give it to her. She said "You made this? For me?" I said "Yes, for you." She said "Aaawww, that's so nice!" Don't you just love them at that age, too cute!

I helped her make a birthday card for her daddy today (didn't get a picture). She is the cutest thing. She of course can "do it myself". By the time she was done she had blue ink on the tips of all of her fingers. And it is a good thing I'm not too picky about what my wooden blocks look like because the four that she used from the Holiday Blitz set were pretty inked up with blue too! It's all good though, she got her card done for her daddy and she was mighty proud of herself. Anybody know a good way of getting ink off of a kid's fingers though? I have a feeling she'll be in my craft room quite a bit in the future.

6x6 Valentine Swap #1

Another part of the Valentine swap that I joined from Stampin' Addicts. This is of course the 6x6 layout that I did. This started with a base of Very Vanilla. I used one of the hearts from the Simply Said stamp set in Real Red ink to create the background. The first page has a photo base of Real Red with a tab punched from Chocolate Chip from the Round Tab punch and a small silver brad. The sentiment is from the Holiday Best Level 1 Hostess set stamped in Chocolate Chip. I can't seem to do Valentine's Day stuff without using Chocolate Chip! The second page has Chocolate Chip card stock for the photo base and Real Red banners stamped with words from the Fundamental Phrases set and sponged with Chocolate Chip ink, and finished off with a silver brad.

I was blog surfing the other night and looking through a new-to-me site, StampinByTheSea, where she used her Photo Corner punch to make the tags. I don't know about you but when I find these easy little tricks I have to 1) use it quickly on something so I don't forget it and 2) think, "Why didn't I think of that?!". 12x12 Valentine Swap #1

I joined another swap on Stampin' Addicts. This one was for a 12x12 Valentine double layout. I started with a Chocolate Chip base. You can't have a Valentine without chocolate now can you? The first page has a 81/2 x 81/2 piece of Rose Red trimmed with the new Scallop Trim border punch (that I got free from Sale-a-bration) in Very Vanilla. The bottom has Very Vanilla 1/4" grosgrain ribbon with 1/2 circles of Rose Red and hearts from the new Small Heart punch. Both papers were sprayed with the Shimmer Paint mist spray that I love.

The second page again has the Rose Red paper trimmed with Very Vanilla and the Scallop Trim border punch . I used the Scallop envelope die with the new Sending Love Specialy DSP. I cut a portion of the Scallop Envelope again from Pretty in Pink (sprayed with Shimmer Mist) to line it with. I then embellished it with a heart in Rose Red from the new Scalloped Heart of Hearts and a Very Vanilla (sprayed with Shimmer Mist) punched with the heart punch. I slipped a small piece of Pretty in Pink inside the envelope to journal on.

This was a really simple layout. Probably the hardest part was getting the ribbon to stick on the paper where I wanted it to. Went together very easily. Thanks for looking!

New Arrival layout

Here is a layout I did form my newest grandson. Landon will be 4 months old this week. I had the honor of being there when he was born. Such an exciting and awesome experience. I was fortunate enough to be present at his and his older sister's birth. I was the photographer and some times coach. Daddy got to do most of that though. This layout uses Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi (retired), Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, and Jersey Shore DSP (Retired). I also used some retired Wild Wasabi Ribbon for embellishment. I don't think I'm quite done with embellishments. I still think it needs a little something. Do you like the strategically placed little stars in the second page? I used the Top Note die for the journaling spot. Haven't journaled yet, of course. That is the hardest part for me with scrapbooking. I got this layout from a scrap map in a class that I took with Got Sketch?. They had a doubles class a couple of months ago. Awesome online class. Lots of layouts and tips. Of course I adjusted it a little for the size of my pictures.

6x6 Scrapbook album - another BIA project

I am having so much fun creating my own albums with my Bind-It-All. I'm getting to use up a lot of paper that I've had for years. It is the cutest stuff for girly projects and since I now have 4 granddaughters I have plenty of girly projects to make! This one is for Elaina. I wanted to give her one for Christmas but life happens (she got a new little sister) and I didn't get it done. So better late then never here it is. I covered it with this pretty paper that came in one of those paper stacks but it doesn't have the cover anymore so I don't know who made it. Anyway, I filled the insides with Appricot Appeal, Pink Passion, Bashful Blue, and Lovely Lilac. One of the reason that I had this paper for so long is because in the tons of solid cardstock that I had I couldn't find any that went with it. But now that I have SU! I'm not having any trouble finding things that match. And bonus, I have embellishments too since all of SU! stuff coordinates. The E on the front is a retired piece of chipboard colored with Bashful Blue craft ink. I dried it with my heat tool and then sprayed it with my Shimmer mist spray that I have talked about before. I just love that stuff. I don't think I've ever stamped or anything with the Shimmer Paint, all I've used it for is the spray mist. I think I'm going to add some more ribbon to the front too. I don't have any ribbon that would match this except for the Pumpkin Pie 1/4", which looks good but I wanted some pink. So I took my Pink Passion marker and colored some of the White Taffeta ribbon. Isn't it cute? I need to get some more so I can finish this. Now I'll just have to plan some scrapping time with Lanie to help her get this book filled up.

Beautiful paper with Shimmer Mist spray

I have been seeing the most beautiful paper all over the place. It looks like the paper is covered in glitter. It got me to thinking that I could make my own glitter paper with the Shimmer Mist spray, only I like it a lot more because the 'glitter' doesn't come off. I have to say that I am totally happy with it. The pictures here don't do it justice because it is very hard to capture the shimmer on film. You'll have to try it and see it for yourself! I got the instructions for the Shimmer mist spray from Adrea Walford's blog but I use 70% alcohol instead of the 99% and I didn't add any reinker to it. I read on Splitcoast that the 70% was better to use so that your sprayer doesn't clog up. So far I have left it sit for a couple of months at a time and it hasn't clogged yet. This first picture is just trying to catch the shimmer with a photo.

This is the start of a layout I did with the paper, it is the SU! Rose Red. It works great with the new Sending Love Specialty paper that is in the Occasions mini catalog. I just love that paper, at least one side on each piece of paper has glitter on it. Not a bunch, just enough. And the package has a bonus for me, the cardboard/chipboard that is in the package with the paper is great to use for my BIA projects. This is from my daughter's wedding almost 2 years ago, see how far behind in my scrapbooking I am! Oh, by the way, don't you love that border? I did that with the Eyelet border punch. I can't wait to get my new border punches that SU! has come out with. They should be here tomorrow. Woohoo! I'm looking forward to it. This paper is the only thing that I preordered so I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow night and dig into all of my new goodies! I'll post this layout again as soon as I finish it off. This is a gift that I made for my sister. She asked me to make her some thank you notes. I was inspired by some note cards that I saw on Andrea Walford's blog. She has a lot of wonderful stuff on her blog. Lots of videos and tutorials. Awesome stuff! The 'purse' pattern I got from a tutorial on Splitcoast. I used Bermuda Bay cardstock and Polka Dot ribbon for the purse and handle. The base for the cards are made from the Clear Bigz Scallop Square die cut in Bermuda Bay, Gable Green, Pixie Pink (I think). The note card itself is a piece of Whisper White, most of the flowers are made from a combination of the pieces cut from the #2 Daisy die, you can really make a bunch of different looking flowers with that one die. A few flowers are from the Scallop Circle punch. This was a really fun and easy project to make. I love the bright colors. What a great way to say thank you, huh? My sis really liked them. Hope you enjoy them too.

My first BIA project

This is my very first Bind It All project. The BIA is my newest toy. I just love it. This is a 6x6 album that I made for my granddaughter, Mikaela, for Christmas. Aren't the bright colors just perfect for a girl? I'm not sure where the paper is from, I've had if for years. Bought it in one of those paper packs, it is really thick. I've never used it because I didn't have the right solid colors to go with it. I brought out Stampin' Up!' Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie and they match it perfectly! The chipboard M is from a retired pack. The paper that the album is covered with has a lot of sparkle and shine on it so I covered the M with Melon Mambo paper and embossed with Clear embossing powder to give it that shine. I added the Pumpkin Pie cordorouy buttons, tied some of the 1/4 Pumpkin Pie ribbon and Melon Mambo Polka Dot ribbon onto the owire. On the inside of the book I added several pages cut from Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Ballet Blue, and Glorious Green. I added a few sticker borders and I am either going to add some more embelishments or package up some for her to add to it when she puts her pictures in. I'll make scrapbookers out of all my granddaughters. I have 3 right now and another due Christmas Eve. Won't that be a wonderful Chirstmas present?!

Ho Ho Ho

This is a banner that I made to hang in my office. I love Christmas decorations, my husband thinks I'm crazy. He just shakes his head when he sees me come home with more. Half of my storage area is full of Christmas decorations.

I started this project with 3 Scallop Squares cut from Glorious Green on the Big Shot, followed up with squares cut from Real Red textured paper. I cut the H's and the wreath with the Cricut. The Snowman is punch art I found on SCS in the Punch Art and Card Candy gallery (I visit there almost daily!). And the reindeer is the same one from the reindeer gift tags that I posted earlier. I attached these all to a piece of double stitched Real Red ribbon that is 1" wide, I think. Put an eyelet in the top for a hanger and you are done.

These are from another swap I did. The base is Real Red run through the Big Shot with the Top Note die. I sponged the edges of the Old Olive with Chocolate Chip ink. The Reindeer I found on Ellen Kempker's blog, Blinkin', Thinkin', and Inkin'. If you like punch art you will love her blog. She posts ideas almost daily. Very talented lady. If you are a punch-a-holic like I am though you better stay away. My punch collection has increased since I started following her blog! I made the antlers a little different than hers, I didn't have the same punch. I added some Crystal Effects to the nose that I punched from Real Red to give him that shine. The ribbon is Sleigh Bells from the Holiday mini.

I think I went a little crazy with all of the swaps I got involved in for October and November but I managed to get them all done. Absolutely was worth it! Received such pretty stuff in return. I'll try to get some of it posted so you can see. Here is a double layout that I did for a Fall/Winter/Christmas swap. I also did a 12x12 Fall double layout. Can you believe I mailed it off without taking a picture? And to top it off I didn't make a set for myself because while I was making them I thought I could/would just recreate from the picture that I would surely take before I mailed them out! Oh, well, you live and learn, right?

The base is Real Red textured paper. The border down the side (or bottom) is Old Olive on Chocolate Chip. The ribbon is Sleigh Bells from the Holiday Mini catalog. The photo mat is Very Vanilla. I ran some Real Red cardstock through the big shot in the Petals A Plenty embossing folder, then punched the ornaments with the Ornament Punch, topped it off with a small piece of the silver elastic cord for the hanger and small knot tied with 1/4 Very Vanilla ribbon. Simple layout but very Christmassy don't you think?

Addyson's first stampin project!

This is my granddaughter Addyson's first stamping project with Nana. She is two and at that stage where "I do it myself!". She made this for one of my other granddaughter's birthday. It was the gift tag on the package. We started with a Pretty in Pink scalloped square cut on the Big Shot(left over from another one of my projects). Whisper White cardstock stamped with Pretty in Pink ink with the bug from the Level 1 hostess set Love Bug. Buried under the bugs is a Happy Birthday from a retired set that I borrowed from a friend. She followed that up by gluing some hearts from Pretty in Pink and Green Galore . "I glue! I glue!" She just had to glue something to it because she had seen me gluing hearts to the birthday card that I had just made for Lanie. Addyson just loves to climb up on her little stool and watch me working on things. "I watch you Nana?" They are just too cute at this age. Who can resist those little faces with they ask for something? And of course she doesn't stay on that stool for very long, before I know it she's wormed her way up into my lap. You know how you just automatically do things with the kids when you are concentrating? She waits until I get intent on doing something and just slips right up there. Sneaky little thing.

Here is my card that I made for Lanie. I can't take credit for the layout, my friend Suzanne showed me some cards that she had made and I 'borrowed' her idea. Tweaked it a little but basically the same.

The card base is Pretty in Pink, Whisper White cardstock stamped with Basic Black ink from the same set Addyson used, and colored in with the Pretty in Pink and Green Galore markers. Add a little Dazzling Diamonds to the bugs and used the paper piercer to make a bug flight pattern. I punched a small border for top and bottom with the Scallop Border Punch from Green Galore cardstock and added a couple of hearts that I punched with the Heart to Heart punch. The inside was stamped with Happy Birthday.

I am a bad blogger. I really have no excuse this time. I have been making things and taking pictures and making more things and taking more pictures...But do I share? No. Shame on me. It will have to be my New Year's Resolution to post at least once a week. Maybe I should make it once a month and I'll be able to meet that. Anyway, this post will be followed up in the next few days with several posts on stuff I've been working on and like well enough to share with you. September Club Layout

This is the layout that we did for the September Club meeting. I used a sketch from GotSketch?. I love their sketches. Great inspiration when you need it. I love SU!'s In Colors this year but it's been a challenge for me to use the Soft Suede. I thought it would look great for a fall layout. I think it really works with the Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry.
The borders are punched with the Scallop Edge punch. I figured out while making these for this layout that it is much easier to punch the border from the 12x12 cardstock and then trim it to the width that you want it. At first I was trying to cut a strip 1" wide and then put it through the punch which worked okay but punch 1st, trim later is much easier to handle. The border is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and the single leaf from the Lovely As A Tree set.
The 'fall' title is stamped with the Schoolbook Serif Alphabet onto Crushed Curry punced with the Keytag punch. It is attached with Circle of Fire brads. I used my piercing tool to poke the holes through both pieces of cardstock to place the brads through.

Gift Tags for Swap

I made these tags for a swap on SCS. I think I'm getting addicted to the swapping thing. The first is using the snowman from the Holiday Tag Time stamp set (retired). I cut out a 3" square of Kraft cardstock and used the Eyelet Border punch to make a medallion. I've seen the Scallop Edge punch used like this so I figured it would look great with the lacey looking edge too. You can make the square a touch smaller at 2 7/8" but you have to be very careful to center the paper exactly in the punch or you will cut all of the way through. I stamped the image with black, colored it in with Rich Razzleberry marker and the birds are a purple but I can't remember which one. The snowflakes are colored in with the White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen. The title is from the Snowy Play (retired) stamp set, stamped with White Craft ink and heat embossed with the White Embossing powder. There is a Pewter Jumbo Eyelet in the corner and then the Rich Razzleberry 1/2"Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon. The other side is stamped in black ink from the Tags and More(retired) set.

The second tag is cut from Bermuda Bay with an inner layer of Kraft cardstock. The edges of the Kraft are sponged with White Craft ink. I stamped the snowman from the Tags and More (retired) set and colored the hat and scarf in with Razzleberry & Bermuda Bay markers. I used the masking technique to add in the trees from the Backwoods (dormant) stamp set. I used the White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen to add in the snow. I love this pen, don't know what I'd do without it.

12x12 Halloween Scrap Kit Swap

Another swap! I'm addicted I tell you! Actually 3 of these swaps were all in one but of course I couldn't just sign up for one group could I? Nope, gotta go all of the way and do the 12x12, 6x6 and this 12x12 layout kit. For some reason I really struggled with this one and I thought it would be the easiest. After all, you only had to do a border, a journaling piece, and 2 embellishments. It took me forever to come up with all of these elements. I have several other pieces that I did and set aside because I didn't think that they fit. You'll probably see those in some posts later 'cause you know they looked fine, just didn't fit with this. Anyway, I'll quit rambling and give you the details.
The border is made with the Frightful Fence jumbo wheel with black ink, rolled onto Pumpkin Pie and mounted on black cardstock. The spider and cat are die cuts that I added. The other three pieces are stamped from Halloween Hoot stamp set. Isn't that witch just the cutest?! Her sign says 'Free Kisses'. She is stamped with black, again on Pumpkin Pie but this time mounted on Rich Razzleberry. LOVE that color! The sign was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink (I think) on Very Vanilla and the handle was colored in with Close to Cocoa. The black kettle was stamped with Black Craft ink and embossed, the bubbles were also stamped with a craft ink and embossed but I can't remember which color (sorry!) onto Rich Razzleberry and mounted on Pumpkin Pie. The tag was pretty simple, Pumpkin Pie layered on Black. I stamped the frog from the set and then drew in the lines with a Black Stampin' Write marker. The string is retired and I can't remember the name of that either. I'm going to have to start writing this down as I go.
Now I just have to put it on a page and I have another Halloween page ready to plop my pictures onto. Hope you all enjoy! Let me know what you think.

Fall 6x6 Swap

This is a layout I did for a Fall/Halloween swap on SCS. The background is Pumpkin Pie, the leaves are die cuts from Dusty Durango, Creamy Caramel, and More Mustard. I used the tip of my bone folder to 'carve' in the veins and then went over them with a marker and sponged the leaves with the Close to Cocoa ink and used the sponge to soak up some ink from the Dusty Durango marker to also dab on. The photo mat is textured More Mustard sponged with Close to Cocoa on the edges. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip (don't ya just love chocolate?). The title is also cut from Chocolate Chip cardstock.

12x12 Halloween Swap

I did this for a Fall/Halloween swap that I joined on Splitcoast Stampers. I haven't received my swaps back yet but I can't wait to see the wonderful things everyone has created. I had a lot of fun with this. I love Fall and Halloween. This is my favorite time of the year for weather and the colors, gorgeous!

For this project I used the Tasty Sweet stamp set. I stamped all of the candy with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I did a lot of cutting with my scissors! I made this page 5 times! The candy dish is made from Dusty Durango with a Wide Oval punch cutting a small portion off for the rim and then I added a Word Window punch for the base. It is layered on top of a square of Pumpkin Pie, Black, and Perfect Plum.
The journaling treat bag is Perfect Plum with a handle from 1/4" Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon, the lines were drawn in with the Black Stampin' Write Journaler. The circle candies were cut out with the 1 1/4" circle punch. The picture doesn't show the title very well but it was stamped with the trick-or-treat saying in the set and heat embossed also. The title background is Black layered with some DSP from the Cast A Spell designer series paper. The photo mats are made from layering Perfect Plum and Kiwi Kiss. Using up a bit of my retired stash. That green is perfect for Halloween.

August Club layout

This is the layout for my August Scrap Club meeting. This is a quick and easy layout. I got my inspiration from a sketch for the Demo Challenge on SCS.
I started this layout knowing that I only wanted to use the new Stampin' Up in colors. I just love the bright in your face kind of color they have. Nothing pastel about these colors! The background is Bermuda Bay, the accents and photo mats are from Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, and Melon Mambo. I have to admit I wasn't going to add the Crushed Curry in but my daughter, Karen, talked me into it. She said it needed yellow. She was right. Without it the layout didn't have the pop that it needed. The flowers are all made from my favorite (as if you haven't figured that out) Scallop circle punch. You punch out the circle, cut in a ways between each of the scallops and add a 1/2" circle punched piece to the middle. Here I added little dots with the white Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen and used a Dimensional to adhere it to give it a little depth. The faux stitching on the border was also added using the gel pen. And of course I had to add in some of that gorgeous Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka-dot Grosgrain Ribbon. I told myself that I would never be able to use up all of the ribbon if I bought one in every color but so far I have bought 3 of the new in colors. Just can't help myself! Altered Can - Owl Graduate

This is as a graduation present. We usually give money but I wanted a different way to 'wrap it up'. I filled this up with Skittles and a check. What more could a graduate ask for? Someone had told me about altering these pop-top cans and I thought it was a great idea. You have to use one of those can-openers that kind of lays on top of the can and cuts it off without leaving the sharp edges. I think they are called safety openers. So you remove the top and the label and wash it out real well.
I wrapped it with card stock that I had stamped Congratulations on with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I put together this cute little owl with several different punches, about 10 I think. I've seen several different versions of the punch art owl on SCS and other blogs but of course I had to tweak it 'cause I hardly ever CASE something exactly. Gotta put my own spin on it!
So let's see if I can remember all of the punches, I did this back in June. The hat is just a square that I cut and the Keytag punch that retired in June. It has a square brad with embroidery floss for the tassel. The head is two Round Tab punches layered with a 3/4", 1/2", and a small circle punch for the eyes. I'm not sure what size the black is for the eyes. The body is made from a large circle and the Wide Oval punch. The wings are 3 layers of the Scallop Circle punch, feet are from the Heart to Heart punch and the beak is from one of my favorite punches, the 5 Petal. Was that ten? I think that is a record even for me! Hope you all like it!

It's been a loooonnng time since I posted, I know. Bet you all thought I dropped off of the planet didn't you? Life got busy, the computer I use to edit my pics and put the watermark on them and all of that good stuff and it up and went kaput on me, and here we are 2 months later! But I finally made myself sit and figure out a way to do this on my own pc and here we are. Now I can post all of the projects I've been holding onto for the past couple of months. So stay tuned in the next of couple of days to see several new layouts and maybe a few other things too!

Sand & Sun

Here is the latest layout for my Scrap Club. We had a lot of fun with this. The ladies got really creative again. They came up with buckets, shovels, little red crabs, it was great. We used a variety of punches. The sand dollar shell is made from the 5-petal punch. I scored from the beginning of the petal to almost the middle on all 5 petals with the bone folder and then on the raised side I traced it with a Close to Cocoa marker, traced that with the VersaMark marker and embossed with Clear embossing powder.

The cute little flip-flops and sun were an idea I CASED from Buffy with her permission of course! I wasn't going to add them to my page until after the club meeting since the punch is retired but my daughter saw them and went and made some for herself so the cat was out of the bag and the other ladies wanted them too. What can you do?

The other shell was also CASED (and changed a little). It came from Valita. She has some great ideas on her blog. On this shell I also scored some lines to give it a little diminsion and then added the Dazzling Diamonds glitter to give a little pop. Actually I CASED just about all of the embellishments from somewhere except for the beach towel and the star fish but I can't remember where I found everything. The beach towel is just a rectangle of cardstock, fringed on the ends with scissors and run through the crimper and then smoothed out a little. Some of the ladies in the club added a little stamping to theirs with tiny flowers. Looked real cute.

The only thing non SU! on the page is the title. I cut that from the Cricut and added it later. I only have one set of letter stamps so far and they were a little big for this layout.

Fireworks punch card

I promised myself that every time I use my punches to create punch art I would make myself one of these 6x6 cards to put in my binder. This way I can browse through my book for ideas. Even though I've already explained how I did this in my previous post I'll post it again just in case...

The bigger fireworks are made from the keytag punch. Just squared off each of the ends. Also made little stars on them with the gel pen. The wick is white embroidery floss. The small firecrackers are made from the word window punch. Also with the ends squared off and cut in half. Some of them I cut in fourths to make the really small ones. Then I grouped them together to make a bigger embelishment.

July 4th 12x12 layout

Here is the layout for the June meeting of my scrapbook club. I gave all of the ladies the same supplies and went over what I did for my layout and then told them to do whatever they wanted. I was quite amazed and impressed with the different layouts that they came up with. Wish I had snapped a few pics of what they did too.
So here are the details: I used the Top Note die for the title background and the journaling space. For the title I tore a piece of white paper and sponged the edges with the red. Stamped the letters with red, and made the #4 from the word window punch with a little detail added using the white Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen(just love that thing!). All of the mats for the pics are red on blue or vice versa and have faux stitching again with the white gel pen . The bigger fireworks are made from the keytag punch. Just squared off each of the ends. Also made little stars on them with the gel pen. The wick is white embroidery floss. The small firecrackers are made from the word window punch. I'm back...

Well, I haven't really been gone this whole time but since my last posting I went on vacation to Massachusetts for a week to see our daughter, son-in-law, and 2 beautiful grandchildren. We went to my grandson's end of the year gymnastic program and my granddaughter's dance recital. Too cute. We also stopped by Niagra Falls on our way home. Did I mention that we drove? Never again. It was 18+ hours of driving in two days. Stayed for 3 days and then came back. Vacation was nice but the driving, or riding since that is what I do, was way too long. Anyway, we brought our grandson home with us for 3 weeks. He is going home today. Went to the zoo while he was here, movies, 4th of July celebrations. Lots of going and doing. So now that he is going home again I am going to try to be a better poster of my projects. Made the cutest Owl graduation project for a family member's graduation and forgot to take a picture before I gave it away! Stay tuned for another scrapbook posting...

Spinner Card

I was getting ready for a technique class the other day which included the 'slider' or 'spinner' technique and just had to try this card. My Mom had asked me to make a birthday card for my great-nephew, Mikey, and I thought he would like this. It is fairly simple in design but I think he'll have fun with it. When you tilt the card the airplane moves back and forth. I got the instructions for making a spinner card (some call it slider) off of Splitcoast (of course!). Very cool technique for making interactive cards and scrapbook pages. Super easy using just pennies and dimensionals!

Backpack...had to try it...

When I saw that cute little backpack on Splitcoast the first time I just knew I was going to have to try it. My daughter asked me the other day if I could come up with something for my granddaughter's teacher as a thank you for the end of the year. Well, here it is...a backpack filled with 5 little Thank You notes and envelopes. I even made the envelopes (with a little help from the Cricut)! What do you think? I'm not usually one for red but I just love how this turned out. I'm so happy with it I think I'm going to make one for my kiddos that live in Massachussetts to give to their teachers too. We are going up to see them in June and Hunter doesn't get out of school until after we get there so the timing would be perfect. Now if time will just cooperate with me here I just might get them done.

All of the supplies aren't Stampin' Up!, the checked paper and buttons are stuff I had on hand before I started as a Demo. And the letters I cut with the Cricut. I don't know what I did for lettering before Karen got this wonderful little machine. It makes it so easy. I do have to admit though that when you cut small letters it has issues..

Almost forgot to add that I saw this on Splitcoast which has a tutorial but through a bit of blog hopping I was led from there to this wonderful video tutorial by a lady named Tracy. She has a pretty neat blog. Check it out!

Petal Party ...

These three 6 x 6 all use mostly materials that came from the Petal Party Simply scrappin' kit from Stampin' Up!. I really like the colors that are in this package but I've been struggling with the designer series paper (DSP) that is included. Especially the flowery one.

The first two of my granddaughter's first pumpkin carving experience. This is my mom with her. It uses Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and the DSP and stickers from the scrappin' kit. The 'stitching' around the edges is the Uni-ball Signo gel pen.

This one uses the Pumpkin Pie DSP, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive papers. The border strip in the middle is from the scrappin' kit.

This one uses Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and the flowery DSP from the scrappin' kit. The kids had fun riding the ponies at a fall festival last year.
I'm trying to get myself used to making pages smaller than my usual 12 x 12. I'll probably end up putting these into a 12 x 12 layout somehow.

Post It Note holder...

It has been a while since I posted. Not that I haven't been creating a little here and there. Just haven't found the time to do everything that goes along with posting the pics. Anyway here is a post it note holder that I made last night. I modified it a bit from the instructions that are on SplitCoast for it. I'm not much on ribbon as a closure so I used the Word Window punch instead to make a 'buckle' closure. I think that is what it is called anyway.

I love the Raspberry Tart DSP. Really wanted to make something with it to keep on my desk. Always have post-it notes so I thought I would try this. I think I'll have to make some more accessories from this paper to keep in my office too.

My favorite crafting to do is scrapbooking so you'll probably see more of that here than anything. And of course my people in the world are my grandkids so what could be better than scrapbooking pictures of them? So here are some more pictures of our little cutie Addyson. I think these are her 6 month pictures. What I started out doing was trying to come up with a 6x6 layout that I could use as a progressive page for my new scrappers club that starts next month. I'm thinking this could work. And then I always love to use as many pictures as I can. I find it very hard to do anything but 12x12 layouts because of that. So I had to make it a double page layout. Always seem to have a need for that one too. So here they are. Let me know what you think.

I can't believe it has been almost two weeks since I posted something. My how time flies. It's not that I haven't been creating, I've been having some fun with that. I wanted to wait to post anything else until I got my watermark created because I keep reading posts on Splitcoast about how you are supposed to do that for projects using Stampin' Up!. Well, you know how things goes with computers. I thought I had Adobe Photoshop Elements on my machine, turns out that was before I bought the new hard drive. So, I had to dig up the software again. Then of course my cd-rom wouldn't read the darn CD anymore. My machine is rather old for a pc. I think it is about 5 or 6 years old and the CD player only works when it wants to. I also have W2K so it is getting harder to find software and stuff that is compatible with it. So anyway, then I had to install the software on my daughter's computer. She of course never 'plays' on hers unless Mom wants to use it for something. It took me the better part of an evening to create my watermark. Not because it is anything spectacular as you will see, but because I was trying to get it done while watching the video on Stampin' Kub's site (that I found through SplitCoast) on my pc while trying to create the watermark on my daughters machine. Oh, yeah, and running into the livingroom to watch Chuck too. I think I need a new laptop with wireless. Then I could watch tv, scrapbook, and surf the web all at the same time if I wanted! That would be heaven. Soooo, I am going to follow this post up with one or two more of projects that I've finished but haven't posted. Depends on how much sleepier I get. I love to scrapbook but don't do it often enough. Yesterday afternoon I started on this page for my granddaughter, Addyson's, first birthday. Finished it off a little while ago. Taking a break from my morning of cleaning. As you can see once she got started on the cake she really got into it! I love the bold brights together, makes everything pop. Everything used here is SU! with the exception of how I cut the letters. I used my daughter's CRICUT machine for that. I just love that machine! It is hard to see in the photo but on the green I used one of my new texture plates with the Big Shot. Been dying to use those. Didn't come out as raised as I hoped but I found a tip somewhere this morning that I'm going to try next time. The tip was to mist the paper with alcohol before running the paper through the Big Shot and it leaves better impressions. I'll let you know how well it works once I give that tip a try.

I got my inspiration from a terrific site that I found while surfing from one site to another. It is called Got Sketch? Wonderful sketches to get you started.

Last nite was our club meeting. We did a couple of projects but this is the only photo I've gotten to come out so far. This is a cute bag that comes from a Splitcoast tutorial. It was an easy project.

Well, here it is. My first posted project. I CASED this from Splitcoast. They have a good tutorial there on how to make this. The eggs are courtesy of my beautiful little granddaughter. She enjoyed coloring eggs today. I think I need to get better at taking pictures of the projects....

Edited: Hmm...I must have changed the picture because I don't see any eggs!

Technique University Class #2

Learn and complete 15 different techniques per class, for six classes. Completed techniques will be mounted on a 6x6 sheet of black cardstock. At the end of the six weeks of classes you will have an album full of techniques to inspire you for your crafting projects! (album not included)

Class fee is $25. $20 of this fee can go towards an order that you can place the night of the class. Please bring your own adhesive and scissors. All other supplies for classes will be provided.

Well, I finally did it. I have my blog started. Been working on it on and off for two weeks, can you tell! LOL! Really, I piddle with things forever. Just decided to go ahead and get started with it so you will most likely see some design changes in the coming weeks because like I said, I like to piddle. I love messing with the code behind this almost as much as I love scrapping and stamping. Anyway, I've created this blog as a way to share my crafting. Hope you enjoy and come visit when I have some actual projects posted!
